John Linton
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I read this:
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22989008-662,00.html
and as I couldn't reach a conclusion - I decided to just use it as an excuse for a rant at that bunch of twinks posing as a government of a country I'm very fond of.
Just how big a total wanker does Senator Conroy (and the whole Labour cabinet) have to be to make such a statement as:
"Under the plan, all internet service providers will be required to provide a "clean" feed to households and schools, free of pornography and other inappropriate material."
Have these morons never heard of P2P or HTTPS or encryption of any type at all? Has the Australian Labour Party suddenly become more adept than BitTorrent etc in being able to decrypt and detect the meaningless fragments of content of IP packets to determine whether or not they exceed their definition (whatever that may be) of "Pornography"? What the hell is 'other inappropriate material' - information from the Liberal Party?
Are they going to pull down all the primary and junior school 'bike sheds' and toilet blocks to eliminate those places of sex education and swapping of 'interesting magazines'?
As a father of five children and someone who probably errs to the conservative side of every issue relating to the protection of children (personally I think all paedophiles should be found in their cells having committed suicide by firing three bullets in to the base of their brain as an example) I am totally flabbergasted at the sheer ridicuous stupidity of having a government that makes such a laughing stock of itself and be seen to be so completely pig ignorant about a topic it decides to try and implement a policy about.
What a complete bunch of totally hopelessly mentally retarded buffoons they must be.
Either they have no !@#$ing idea how IP packets are requested and delivered over the internet or they believe George Orwell's writings about how technology works and can be controlled exists outside the realm of 1940s fiction.
Of course, nothing will happen and not just because it isn't remotely technically feasible, but because any proponent of such an inane scheme will be laughed out of politics (if not their street, suburb, city, State and country) if they ever try and make their personal paranoid delusions someone else's reality.
Time Senator Conroy's GP got a couple of colleagues to commit this lunatic to an institution that will prevent him doing further harm to himself.
It's inconceivable to me that someone with such a demonstrable complete lack of understanding about IP technology is the best candidate the Labour Party has for Minister of Communications - oh - I forgot about the rest of the cabinet appointments.
I'm not sure what is scarier - the fact that a member of a government of Australia can make such ludicrous statements or the wild improbability that he actually thinks he can somehow do what he says.
What a bunch of total wankers this new government is.
....oh.....and Happy New Year!
